The World Health Organization estimates that up to 10% of patients in developed countries and up to 30% in developing countries acquire at least one HAI during their stay in a healthcare facility. Proper hand hygiene can significantly reduce these numbers.

About the Hand Hygiene Photo Contest

The Hand Hygiene Photo Contest is an engaging and creative way to raise awareness about the importance of hand hygiene. We're inviting photographers, both professional and amateur, to submit their best photographs that illustrate the theme of hand hygiene.

The contest is open to photographers of all ages and skill levels. Whether you're a seasoned photographer with a portfolio of award-winning work or a budding photographer just starting out, we want to see your interpretation of hand hygiene. The only requirement is that your photograph must be your original work and must be related to the theme of hand hygiene.

Categories

The contest will have three categories to encourage a diverse range of submissions:

• Before and After: Show the difference proper hand hygiene can make. This could be a before-and-after series of the same hands, or a side-by-side comparison of hands that have been cleaned and those that haven't.
• Hand Hygiene in Action: Capture the act of hand hygiene in progress. This could be a healthcare worker washing their hands, a parent teaching their child how to wash their hands, or any other creative interpretation of the theme.
• Creative Interpretation: Show us your unique perspective on hand hygiene. This could be a metaphorical representation of the theme, a creative use of light and shadow, or any other innovative approach to the topic.

Prizes and Judging

The top three photographs in each category will receive cash prizes, with the first-place winner in each category receiving $500. The overall grand prize winner will receive an additional $1,000 and have their photograph featured on our website and in our promotional materials.

The photographs will be judged by a panel of experts in the fields of photography, public health, and healthcare. The judges will be looking for photographs that are creative, technically excellent, and effectively communicate the importance of hand hygiene.
