"Ryanair Handbag Rules: Pack Smart, Fly Happy!"

Travelling with Ryanair? Wondering about their handbag rules? You're not alone. Ryanair, like many budget airlines, has specific rules regarding hand luggage, including handbags. Let's dive into the details to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey.

Understanding Ryanair's Handbag Policy

Ryanair allows passengers to bring one small handbag on board, in addition to their cabin baggage. This is great news for those who want to keep their essentials close at hand. However, there are some rules and restrictions you should be aware of.

Size and Weight Restrictions

Ryanair's handbag must not exceed the following dimensions: 35cm x 20cm x 20cm (including wheels, handles, and side pockets). The weight of the handbag should not exceed 10kg. These measurements are in line with Ryanair's standard cabin baggage policy.

What Can You Put in Your Handbag?

Your handbag can contain all the essentials you need for your journey. This includes items like your passport, travel documents, wallet, phone, keys, and any medication you may need. However, there are some items that are restricted or prohibited, which we'll discuss later.

Can You Bring a Handbag and a Cabin Bag?

Yes, you can. Ryanair allows passengers to bring one cabin bag and one small handbag on board. The cabin bag must not exceed 55cm x 40cm x 20cm (including wheels, handles, and side pockets) and should not weigh more than 10kg. The handbag, as we've discussed, should not exceed 35cm x 20cm x 20cm and should not weigh more than 10kg.

What Happens if Your Handbag Exceeds the Size or Weight Limit?

If your handbag exceeds the size or weight limit, it will be considered as additional baggage and you will be charged the relevant fee. It's always best to check your bag's dimensions and weight before you travel to avoid any unexpected charges.

Prohibited and Restricted Items

While your handbag can contain many essential items, there are some that are prohibited or restricted. Here's a list of items you should avoid packing in your handbag:

• Liquids over 100ml (unless they're in a clear, re-sealable plastic bag and fit within the 100ml limit)
• Sharp objects (like knives, scissors, or razors)
• Firearms and ammunition
• Explosives and flammable substances
• Chemical or toxic substances
• Corrosive materials

For a full list of prohibited and restricted items, we recommend checking Ryanair's official website.

Tips for Packing Your Handbag

To ensure you're following Ryanair's handbag rules, here are some tips for packing your handbag:

• Measure your handbag to ensure it fits within the size limit
• Weigh your handbag to ensure it doesn't exceed the weight limit
• Pack essential items only - leave non-essentials in your checked baggage
• Keep liquids in a clear, re-sealable plastic bag to ensure they fit within the 100ml limit
• Check the list of prohibited and restricted items before you pack

By following these tips, you can ensure a stress-free journey with Ryanair.

What If You Need to Bring More Than One Handbag?

If you need to bring more than one handbag, you'll need to check your additional handbag into the hold. This will incur a fee, so it's always best to pack light and only bring what you need for your journey.

Remember, Ryanair's handbag rules are in place to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers. By following these rules, you can help ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey. Happy travels!
